Odessa Mae Roberson Sullins, age 95, of Rome, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 8, 2014, surrounded by her daughter, Trish Benefield, son, David Sullins, and grandson, John Benefield.

Odessa was born on March 31, 1919, in Fosters Bend, Georgia, the daughter of the late Will A. and Bessie Pike Roberson. In addition to her parents, Odessa was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, the Reverend John R. Sullins, a son, William R. (Billy) Sullins, brothers, Willie and Richard Roberson, and sisters, Inez Abrams, Lurilene McCord, Mildred Sullins, Margie Swanson, and Jean Reneau. Throughout her life she dedicated herself to the Lord, her husband and her family. She and her seven siblings sang as the Roberson Quartet for many years. They were requested to sing at many gatherings and made an impact on many lives. She also worked for the Red Cross as a young woman, but the most important vocation of her life was as the wife of a minister, with whom she traveled to many churches in the area spreading the Word of God. She was by his side no matter what, and her devotion to him was the beacon of light that paved the way of life for their three children, the late William R. (Billy) Sullins, David Lamar Sullins, and Patricia Ann Sullins Benefield.

In addition to her son and daughter, Odessa is survived by eight grandchildren, John (Traci) Benefield, Dallas, Shaunna (Shayne) Garrison, Centre, AL, Mark (Pam) Sullins, Felicia (Genile) Winslett, Cedartown, Robb Sullins, Keith (Sherri) Sullins, Rome, Michelle Reynolds, Hawkinsville, and Mandi Spear (Fiance Tony Albright) Rome; 22 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, several nieces and nephews who were dear to her heart, and two special sisters-in-law, Dixie Sullins and Louise Sullins Kelly.
