OBITUARY: Clair B. Pechacek, 67 - reprinted from the May 20, 2005 River Falls Journal online

Clair B. “Side Stepper” Pechacek, 67, of Rock Spring, WY., and formerly of River Falls, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at his home after a lengthy illness.

The son of Ben and Hellen (Johnson) Pechacek, he was born May 15, 1937, in River Falls. He graduated from River Falls High School.

On Feb. 14, 1998, he married Wanda Estep in Rock Springs.

Mr. Pechacek served in the Army Reserve for eight years. He was employed by 3M for 13 years; opened Clair’s Corral Bar for a few years; opened The West Wind Supper Club; was truck driver for 30 years until his retirement in 2002; and worked for Pacific Steel until his illness.

He was a member of the Catholic church.

Mr. Pechacek was preceded in death by his parents: Ben and Hellen Pechacek; and brother, Jimmy Pechacek.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Pechacek of Rock Springs: sons: Kevin (Amy) Pechacek and Craig Pechacek, all of River Falls; step-sons: Matt (Marissa) Rogina of Burnsville, MN, and Sean (Mandi) Davis of Rock Springs; daughters: Pam Chinander of Roberts, Shelly (Clive) Newell of Las Vegas, NV., and Kelly (James) Mitsakos of Las Vegas; step-daughters: Nona (Joseph), Brandie (Bryan) Reynolds; and Rusti Estep, all of Vernal, Utah; brother, Gordon (Peg) Pechacek of Amery; sister, Jeanette Cobian of Prescott; 13 grandchildren; numerous Aunts and Uncles; cousins; and nephews.

A memorial service was held May 16, at Fox Funeral Home in Rock Springs, with the Rev. Killian Muli officiating.

Military honors and internment were at Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation in River Falls will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Cashman Mortuary.

An additional memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 20, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, with visitation one hour before the service.

Additional Note: Although he has a grave stone at St. Martin's Cemetery in Cherma, Clair is burried in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery in Rock Spring, Wyoming.
