Sam took General and Business course in College at Angola, Ind. In 1909 he bought the first auto in Paulding County - a Brush. Sam was a member of Emerald Twp school board and Paulding Co. He was one of the organizers of the Sherwood Spiritualists Camp. He was a Fire Marshal and was quite active in Masonic work. At death was retired employee of State Highway Dept. of Ohio.
