Nancy Lou Schmidt, 68, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2006, at her residence. Schmidt was born to Austin and Betty Newman on November 15, 1937, she grew up and attended school in Abilene with three brothers and three sisters. In 1959, she married the man she would spend the rest of her life with, Jerry Allan Schmidt. She was praised for her cooking and was a longtime cook at Sears Methodist Center. She later owned and operated a secondhand store in Abilene. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Allan Schmidt; a son, Jerry Niel Schmidt; two daughters-in law, Brenda Fowler and Karen Davis; a grandson, Eddie A. Fowler; a granddaughter, Lacy Nichols Schmidt; four step grandchildren, Emily, Brandy, Rachel and Jesse; three great grandchildren, Katie, Ann and Ryan Thomas and Eddie Allan Steve; three sisters, Dorothye Grooms, Frances Davis and Linda Gibson; two brothers, Wylie and Jim Newman. Mrs. Schmidt was preceded in death by two sons, Justin Austin Schmidt and Eddie Steve Schmidt who awaited her in heaven. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
