Rose grew up in downtown New Castle, PA and was raised in a traditional Italian family. She was the first born child and had one younger sister, Thelma. Rose was versed in Italian and English. Upon reaching adulthood, she married Anthony Cugini on July 2, 1942, he preceded her in death. Anthony passed away in his sleep in 1978. They did not have any children, but had two little white poodles. Anthony owned a plumbing business and Rose obtained a sales position with Sears. She worked for 50+ years at Sears Roebuck and was given a special trip on the corporate jet in honor of her dedication and service. She continued to work part-time at Sears until her passing in 2005.
Rose loved to travel. When she went to Italy, she was able to have an audience with the Pope. She enjoyed Las Vegas and was a frequent visitor. In her later years, Rose was entrusted with taking care of her elderly mother, Julia. She would visit Julia on a daily basis, taking care of her mother's needs. When Julia was placed in a nursing facility, Rose visited her mother every afternoon. In October 2005, Rose was returning from visiting her mother and was involved in a serious car accident. She lingered in the hospital for several weeks. She passed away due to her injuries and the weakness of her lungs from emphysema.
