“Fred” Johnson, father of three and grandfather of six, was killed by a couple he had befriended and allowed to stay at his Vienna Township home. The pair had been staying at his house for two days when Mr. Johnson learned that Patrick Selepak and Samantha Bachynski were on the run after killing a man and his pregnant wife in New Baltimore.
Fred was the son the late Winfield and Irene (Hall) Johnson. He had resided in the Clio area most of his life. Fred married Beverly Kent on September 20, 1975. He was employed with Delphi for 31 years, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed auto racing. Surviving are: wife, Beverly; children, Michelle "Shelly" (David) Helwer, Joshua (Tiffany) Johnson, Kristen "Kristey" (Russell) Minge; 6 grandchildren, Alex and Kylie Helwer, Garrett and Laney Johnson, Tyler and Makenzie Minge; brother, Jerry (Carol) Howell, Bob (Melanie) Johnson; sister, Pat Howell, Mary (Johnny) Knack many nieces and nephews. Fred was also preceded in death by his niece, Rachel Barnum; and nephew, Larry Skaggs. Fred was a wonderful father and will be greatly missed.
