Were held Monday

Former Clarke County Resident Laid
To Rest In Bethel Chapel; Died
At Chariton Friday

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Welch, former Clarke county resident, were held at Bethel church Monday, Sept. 14, with Rev. J. W. Garbison officiating. Burial was in Bethel Chapel cemetery.

Mrs. Welch died at Chariton nursing home Friday, Sept. 11. She had been in ill health for six years. She was 89 years old.

She was born Anna Goodrich, daughter of Andrew and Margaret Goodrich, in Warren county, October 1, 1872. Of a family of nine children, four brothers and four sisters preceding her in death.

She was married to Andrew Welch February 19, 1893 and they made their home in Clarke county. Three children were born to them: Mrs. Lela Lamb of Knoxville, Lloyd of Burlington, and Cecil of Oregon City, Ore. Mr. Welch died March 5, 1938.

Mrs. Welch united with the Christian Union church at Bethel Chapel early in life, and was active in church and community life as long as her health permitted.

For the past 15 years she had made her home with her children, until nursing was needed, and she was cared for in the Chariton nursing home.

Besides her children, she is survived by her two daughters-in-law and one son-in-law, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.
