Charles Andrew Barker, age 44, died at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind., 2:55 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014.

Charlie passed due to medical complications from a spinal cord injury in 1991.

He was born on April 2, 1970, in Eldorado, the son of Charles Bradford Barker Jr. and Violet Deloris (Miller) Barker. Charlie was the youngest of nine children and is survived by his sisters, Mary Ellen Barker, Elizibeth (Libby) Pittman and Rebecca Matthews; brothers, Paul, Joe and Ron Barker; as well as many nieces and nephews and friends. Most of Charlie’s life was lived out in Eldorado where he was an active member of the Pittman family: Lyle, Libby, Joshua, Ashlea, Amanda and Samson. His passing will be a great loss to the Pittman family

As a young man, he attended Eldorado High School, class of ’89 where purple and gold ran through his veins, and continued throughout his life as an ardent fan. Charlie transferred to the University of Southern Indiana where he had aspirations of becoming a secondary science educator, unfortunately due to health issues he was unable to continue.

Charlie lived out his life as an athlete, brother, uncle, student and loyal friend. He loved to be helpful and was a source of strength and comfort to others despite his own challenges. His passing is a time of great sorrow to his loved ones and friends, he will forever be missed.

Charlie will be cremated and laid to rest with a private family service as per his wishes. His ashes will be buried at Hickory Hill Cemetery at a later date. Condolences may be directed to 291 Hillcrest Road, Eldorado, Ill. 62930.
