She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Nies, of Hessedarmstadt, Germany, who came to America and located in this county many years ago.
Mrs. Small's death was sudden. She went to Hanover Saturday forenoon, apparently in her usual good health, and while bidding on some dishes at a public sale of the Mosses Sneeringer, about 1:30 o'clock she was taken suddenly ill. Dr. Roberta Fleagle was summoned, who rendered all possible aid. Soon afterward she was conveyed to her home in an automobile, where she was attended by a family physician. Dr. A.C. Rice of McSherrystown. Her condition, however was such a nature that medical aid was of no avail.
Her husband died about 8 months ago, and she is survived by one daughter: Miss Edith Small, at home; and six sons: Robert Small of Chicago; Charles of Harrisburg; Morris in the U.S. Navy; Walter, proprietor of the Valley View hotel in Bittinger; Norman of Baltimore; and Harry at home; two sisters: Mrs. S.J.H. Fuhrman of Hanover and Mrs. Mary Bigler of Pennville.
Funeral services Wednesday, from Conewago Chapel. High Requiem Mass at 9:00 a.m. Rev. Germanus Kohl officiating. Interment in the Chapel cemetery.
