Services for Ric Bowie, 52, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Elizabeth Abraham officiating.

Burial will follow in Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.

He died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002.

He was born June 18, 1950, in Amarillo. He was a lifelong Lubbock resident, graduating from Monterey High School in 1968 and from Texas Tech in 1986. He served in the Marine Corps. He married Betty Smithee on June 23, 1996, in Lubbock.

He was a lab supervisor at the Texas Animal Health Commission, a counselor at Montford Unit prison and a counselor intern at the Lubbock Faith Center. He was past president of the Lubbock Balloon Club and a member of the Second Baptist Church in Lubbock.

Survivors include his wife; his mother, Freda Bowie of Lubbock; a daughter, Riki Ross of Tucson, Ariz.; a stepson, Eric Thompson of Newport News, Va.; three stepdaughters, Paula Halfhill of Las Vegas, Nev., Christine Seda of Princeton, Ill., and Wendy Thompson of Charleston, S.C.; three brothers, John Robert of Shawnee, Okla., Tim of Colorado Springs, Colo., and David of Pueblo, Colo.; a sister, Diana Bowie of Lubbock; and seven grandchildren.
