Wayne A. Meyer, Edinburg, ND, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, August 9, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Home in Park River, ND. He was 86 years old.

Wayne was born December 25th, 1927, in his home at Pleasant Lake, ND, the son of Peter A. Meyer and Lottie (Wiltse) Meyer. He later moved with his family to Noonan, ND, where he attended school.

He served in the U.S. Navy both during WWII and the Korean War. He married June 3, 1956, in Grand Forks, ND. He worked for the Standard Oil Company from 1956 to 1973 and at then for the Fire Department at the Cavalier Air Station from 1974 until his retirement in 1992. He sold insurance for No Dak Mutual and Insurance Associates on a part-time basis for approximately 30 years.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family. He had a love for animals, especially horses and dogs which he owned for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He was a true outdoorsman. He served his community well by visiting shut-ins, helping those in need and sharing his faith with others and will be greatly missed as a spiritual leader and prayer warrior.

He is survived by his wife, daughter son and 5 grandchildren: as well as two sisters.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Michelle DeLyn, two brothers Delbert (Bud) and Vernon (Sonny), sisters Yvonne Brandvold, Lenore Dahl, Laverne Holte, and Loretta Fagerland.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral home of Edinburg. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Edinburg, ND. Military rites will be provided by the Edinburg American Legion Post and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to the Trinity Lutheran Church Organ Fund.
