The funeral service for William W Luce of Belle Vernon, who died Wednesday night, was held this afternoon at the Perryopolis Christian Church. Burial was made in Hill Grove Cemetery. Mr Luce, a former resident of Perryopolis, succumbed to a brief illness at the age of 70 years. He was for years engaged in the grocery business at Monessen under the firm name of Luce Brothers & Stephens. G R Stephens is the only survivor of the pioneer partnership. After retiring from the grocery business, Mr Luce entered into real estate with D S Sutman, former school princial. He became associated with a Pittsburgh firm in taking options on coal lands in Fayette, Washington and Green counties and followed this up until the depression after which he spent his life in retirement. Mr Luce was an active member of the Christian Church, associating himself with it at Perryopolis, Monessen and Belle Vernon. He is survived by his wife, one son Ralph of Charleroi, one daughter, Jane of Chester W Va; one sister Mrs Victoria Whitsett of Steubenville, Ohio, and a grandson, William A Luce.
