Elmer "Bud" Albus, Jr. age 87 of Sterling died Tuesday, August 5, 2014 surrounded by his family.

Bud was born May 13, 1927 in Rock Falls, the son of Elmer L. and Ella (Christiansen) Albus, Sr. He married Beverly "Betty" Oberg on February 11, 1947 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. He worked at Rock Falls RB&W for many years, retiring in 1989. Bud then worked with the Sterling Township for 13 years. He served in Germany in the US Army, and had the opportunity to participate in the Honor Flight in 2011. Bud enjoyed watching NASCAR races, completing word puzzles and collecting Diecast cars and trucks. He was an excellent carpenter and also enjoyed wood working and building bird houses.

Survivors include his wife Beverly of Sterling, one daughter Patricia (Louie) Murphy of Sterling, one son Ernie (Donna Osborn) Albus of Oregon, IL, one sister Edith Gowan of Rock Falls, three grandchildren Jason (Julie) Krebs of MN, Jennifer (Art) Gneuhs of Plainfield, and Stacy Albus of Chattanooga, TN, four great grandchildren Keelan, Arthur John, Carter, and Leila, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Friday, August 8, 2014 at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the funeral home with Reverend James Keenan officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
