Before any of you "wig out" and see that the date of birth listed on the headstone is 1877 and think that I have it wrong... See his WWI Draft Registration record, the 1880 Census Record, and the 1900 Census record. That date of 1877 is erroneous. He's not listed with the family in the 1880 Census. Also, it stands to reason that Carrie was the one giving the information in 1900, since the men would most likely have been at work during the day.

Confirmation of Date of Birth

Hi Cissy, I belong to the Mary Elizabeth Currie line. This is the Mary Elizabeth who was born in Alabama in 1845 and she was the sister of George W Currie who was the father of your Dan. I have the little history of the Currie family that was published in a book on the history of San Jacinto County (I think that is the one). Anyhow from that I have that George W and Mary were the children of Jack and Nancy Johnson and that Jack was the first born of Archibald Currie and Effie Philyaw. That is about all I know. Another sibling to George and Mary was William Turner Currie whose second wife was Maggie A Thompson. This Maggie A Thompson was the youngest sister of Henry Van Thompson who married one of Mary Currie's daughters, also known as Maggie. Henry Van and Maggie A Thompson were the children of George W Thompson and Mary M Templeton. It is in the Templeton bible belonging to Mary M's father that I found recorded the birth of Dan Currie, son of G W and Elizabeth Currie on 4 Nov 1882. It also looks like another son G L Currie was born 15 Apr 1879 but those initials are hard to read. I wonder if this is the son Lee Currie mentioned in the above book. The Templetons, Curries and Thompsons were very close families from what I can tell. I have been researching my family history for 20 years or more. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Henry Van Thompson was my great grandfather. After college I moved to the East Coast, met my husband and had 2 boys. We currently live in Severna Park, Maryland which is near DC and Annapolis. I look forward to "chatting" with you about our Curries. Sincerely, Georgie
