Lifetime Guthrie resident Ferdy E. Waner passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014. He was born February 15, 1928, to John Daniel and Elsie Corda (Gilbert) Waner, who prededed him in death. Others who preceded him were sister Evelyn Triplett, brothers Gerald, Dale and Lendall, Uncle Russell Gilbert, in-laws Lennit and Effie Williams and beloved son Richard Dale.

Survivors are his wife Esther, sons Elden Waner and Shirley, W. Kip Stratton and Luscaine, four grandchildren, Susan (Rick) Savory, Carla (Ken) Brown, Justin (Lindsay) Mays, Kimberly (Alan) Blankenship, 11 great grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to W.W. II and the shortage of manpower, Ferdy began work at the age of 15, working after school at the Ford Agency where his dad was foreman. He later continued running Waner's Garage after the death of his Father, John. He added a wrecker service in 1974 and retired on January 1, 1999.

For a past time, he enjoyed boating, water skiing, fishing and bowling. Any spare time found him working in the garden, flower beds or mowing grass.

He graduated from Guthrie High School in 1946. He was a member of the First Christian Church since boyhood and a 50 year member of Guthrie Masonic Lodge #35.

Services will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, July 21, 2014, at the First Christian Church, with Dr. Dennis Clark officiating, followed with burial at Summitt View Cemetery
