On September 5, 1944, he married the former Norma E. Winkel in Rapid River, and began their life together in Cooks. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2004.
Gaylord was employed as a postal carrier for the U.S. Post office and retired in 1984. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, riding ORV’s, and also watching baseball, football and all sports. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, and VFW Post # 4420.
Gaylord is survived by his sons. Also surviving are six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers,and his sister.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor, with a Veteran service to follow.
Burial will be held in the Inwood Township Cemetery at Cooks, Michigan.
