A daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Charles F. Sheldon, Mrs. Johnson was born at Lake Charles La., July 20, 1891. She was married Dec. 25, 1914 to Carl J. Johnson at Abingdon, Ill. They had resided in Alton for the past 11 years, coming here form Galesburg.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Mrs. Amherst Hardy, Decatur, IL; two brothers, Royal Sheldon, Seattle, Wash., and Stuart, Kirkwood, MO.; and four sisters, Mrs Jessie (Frank C.) Spaid, Sullivan, MO., Mrs. Charity T. (Harold A.) Rapp and Miss Faith Sheldon of St. Louis, MO.; and Miss Hope Sheldon, a missionary who is in San Salvador, A daughter Betty Jean died in Aug 1943.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the First Congregational Church and pastor of the church, the Rev. R. R. Trickey will officiate at rites Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in Gent funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
