Martin J. Armstrong
Martin J. Armstrong, 87, of Butler, Ind., formerly of Mishawaka, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, after a brief illness. He was a florist.
He was born on Nov. 25, 1892, in Cassidy, Kan., and had lived in this area for most of his life. On Sept. 3, 1921, in South Bend, he married Adah E. Riddle, who died on Feb. 3, 1976.
Surviving are three daughters, Miss Edith Armstrong at home, Mrs. Alice Bergman of Plymouth and Mrs. Joan Chancellor of Auburn, Ind.; two sons, Francis of Fort Wayne and Thomas of Butler; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Johnson Funeral Home, Butler. Rev. John Wortinger, pastor, Butler United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home,
He was a member of the Forest Lodge 239, F. & A. M., the Forest Chapter 44, Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Butler United Methodist Church.
