Charles arrived in Vietnam 16 November 1967 and was assigned to Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. While participating in Operation Allen Brook Delta Company was in the vicinity of Phu Binh (1) on the north bank of the Bon River when the Marines received hostile rifle fire. Charles died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head from hostile sniper fire.
Survived by his parents, Elmer and Bernice B Coleman and his 3 brothers, Larry Michael, Carl Wayne and Patrick and 2 sisters, Sandra and Glenda Coleman all of 2935 Grinstead Dr, Louisville, Kentucky, and brother, Carl W Coleman served in Vietnam with the US Army.
