Kenneth Lee Phillips 81, a longtime resident of the St. Anthony area passed away Aug. 14, 2014 at his home from a heart condition.

Ken was born Apr. 6, 1933 at Milo, Idaho the son of Lee and Wanda Bowles Phillips. He grew up in the Rigby area where he graduated from High School.

He married the love of his life Janet LaRae Little on July 1, 1953 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in Rigby a short time before moving to California where Ken served in the U.S. Army. They settled down in Salem , ID. in l956 where they raised dairy cows, chickens and worked on the family farm. In l977 they built a home near St. Anthony in the Twin Groves area where they spent the remainder of their lives. Janet passed away Feb. 25, 2010. He then married Lorene Ferre in Jan. 2011, and she passed away in Feb. 2014.

Besides being a farmer, Ken worked at Valley Bank in Rexburg & St. Anthony for many years. He also worked for St. Anthony Supply for 9 years. He enjoyed the cowboy poets and would often recite many of their poems. He also enjoyed horseback riding in the mountains. He was active in the LDS Church serving in many positions. He served in the Salem Bishopric and was a Scout Master for many years and all of his sons received their Eagle Scout Award. He also served as a clerk in the St. Anthony Id. Stake. He and Janet served a mission in Macon Georgia in 2000. they also served as temple ordinance workers for 10 years. For the past few years Ken served in the St. Anthony Family History Center.

Ken is survived by his children; Kenneth Jr. (Julie) Phillips, Salem, ID.: LaRae (Vern) Thurber,Salem, ID,; Blaine (Cathy) Phillips Bountiful, UT.; Jay (Laurie) Phillips, Idaho Falls, ID.; Brenda (Mike) Bloom Menan, ID.; David (Karen) Phillips, Ogden, UT.; Lorene (Boyd) Hall Burton, ID.; Richard (Tanya) Phillips, Salem, ID.; James (Keri-Elena) Phillips, Burton, ID.; 47 Grandchildren and 40 Great Grandchildren. One brother, Larry Phillips, Orem, UT.; and one sister Wanda Kaye Poston, Rigby, ID. Besides his two wives and parents Ken was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and Brent and a sister Beth Brown, 2 Granddaughters and one Great Grandson.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Anthony Idaho Stake Center with Bishop Wade Geisler, officiating. Friends may call at the Stake Center Tuesday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and again Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 just prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery .
