Jack Montague, 52, of Pittsburg, Illinois, died as a result of an attack on his fuel convoy in the Abu Ghraib area of Baghdad. He was the son of Chester and Betty (Barnfield) Montague. He married Betsy Hanson and together they shared 27 years.

Jack was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and previously worked on the railroad. He worked as a truck driver for 22 years and had signed up with Haliburton's KBR subsidiary to drive fuel trucks in Iraq for a year. The attack that took Jack's life also claimed the lives of five fellow truckers and two U.S. Army Reserve soldiers; another driver and a U.S. soldier remain missing.

Survivors include: Wife Betsy Montague; Daughter Jacquelyne Montague; Mother Betty Montague; Mother-in-law Claudia Hanson; Three Brothers: John Montague, David Montague, Rusty Montague; Two Sisters: Dorothy Kettell,
Jeanie Montague of Chicago; he was preceded by his Father Chester.

All who knew him thought his personality was unforgettable and he would always put a smile on your face.
