Charles served in the United States Air Force from 1951 until 1955.
He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as a Passenger Tire Inspector for 30 years retiring on April 1, 1985. Charles was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. He enjoyed vacationing with his wife, Crappie fishing with his dad and brother, spending time with his grandchildren and the company of his cats.
He married Para Lee Mader on October 8, 1955. She preceded him in death on May 23, 2003.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, William Buck and his wife Jean along with his mother and father-in-law, Madalen and Adam Mader.
Survivors include his son, Michael R. Buck (Carol) of Exeter, Nebraska, a daughter Cindy M. Wilson (Steve) of Topeka, four grandchildren, Jason Gillenwater (Jennie), Christina Forshee (Ty), Sherrie Balderston (Troy), Rich Ritterbush and 11 great-grandchildren. Charles was cremated.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2014 at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice, St. Matthew Catholic Church or the Cat Association sent in care of the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
