WEIRSDALE — David D. South, 81, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013.
Mr. South, born in Humeston, Iowa, moved in 1998 to The Villages from Connecticut. In 2003, he relocated to Weirsdale.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, Mr. South worked for Western Electric. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1311, Connecticut. Known as "Big Dave," he played the bass guitar and bass fiddle in country and bluegrass bands in Connecticut and Florida.
Survivors include his sons, Stephen, Georgia, Michael, Connecticut, and Edward, Tennessee; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
