Death of Levi Hurbaugh (sic) On Friday morning last, Robert J. Smith, guardian, received a telegram from Evansville, announcing the death of Prof. Levi Hurbaugh, a resident of this county, whose home was three miles south of Corydon. Nearly two years ago Mr. Hurbaugh was sent to the Insane Hospital in Evansville, where he remained until death. Although in feeble health, both mentally and physically, Mr. Hurbaugh's death came unexpectedly. The deceased was well known in this county, having been at one time a leading teacher and instructor. His remains were shipped to this county last Saturday and interred at Pfrimmers chapel burying ground last Sunday afternoon, under the auspices of the Knight of Honor and the Grand Army Post of this place. A very feeling funeral sermon was preached by Rev. W.G. Clinton, and the funeral largely attended. The deceased was in his fifty-fifth year, and was a soldier of the rebellion, having been a member of Company "C: Seventeenth Indiana regiment. He leaves a widow and seven children. (The Corydon Republican, 25 May 1899.)
