Graveside services for Elva Christine Harris Athey, 85, Lawrence were held Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. She died October 3, 2011 at Hickory Pointe Care & Rehabilitation Center, Oskaloosa.

She was born on March 8, 1926 in Arcadia, KS the daughter of John Wesley and Lottie Ann Buchanan Harris.

Elva moved to Lawrence in July of 1943.

She was a homemaker and worked as a cook and waitress for 25 years until she retired in 1989.

She married Paul Elmer Athey on September 18, 1943 in Olathe, KS. He preceded her in death March 13, 1993.

Brothers and sisters include; William J. Harris, John Harris, Mildred Robinson, Clara Terrell, Viola Foulk, Ruth Orton and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions were made in her name to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association and sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
