Herman A. Hargenrater, 73, of 404 Park Avenue, died Tuesday at 3pm at Spencer Hospital after a long illness.


He was born at Marbel, Venango County, and resided at Oil city for a number of years prior to moving to Meadville, where he lived for 27 years. Abuilding contractor, he had been retired for 10 years.


He was a member of the Meadville Elks, Fourth Degree Assembly of the Knights of Columbus and St Agatha's Roman Catholic Church.


Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Joseph Bayhurst, Oil City, Violet at home, Mrs Paul Boyersmith, Mrs Willis Kidd and Mrs. Edward Montgomery all of Meadville; Four sons, Stanley, Herman and Quentin, Meadville, and Thomas, Los Alamos, NM; a sister, Mrs. John Schill, Lucinda; a brother, Norbert Hargenrater, Oil City; and 19 grandchildren.


Friends may call from 7 to 9 pm today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Thursday at the Roofner Funeral Home where Knights of Columbus will hold Rosary devotions at 8pm Thursday. Services will be held at 10am friday at St Agatha's Roman Catholic Church, with interment at the church cemetery.
