Clara Frakes was born about 1874 in either Logan or Christian County, Illinois. She married Jacob A. Waddell(variation Waddel or Wadell) in January 1893. Record of her death and burial has not been found. Clara gave birth to daughter, Mabel, in March 1895. It is believed that Clara died in childbirth. Mabel was raised by her maternal grandparents, Henry Clay Frakes and Mary Ann (Broughton) Frakes.
