Husband of Martha Jane Coln (Daughter of Robert Sadler and Jane Love Gaston Coln).Tombstone records of Chester County, South Carolina has record of James L McCluney at the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The stone reads:
James L. McCluney/ Co E/ 8 S.C. Inf./ CSA/ no dates.

The Civil War records state that J L McCluney was wounded at Gaines Mill on June 27, 1862 and did not answer roll call on July 1, 1862..... he was reduced from 2nd Sergeant for being AWOL from June 30 to December 31, 1862. This seems to be amended by a footnote which explains he was wounded and had been transferred to the Cavalry.
