Uncle Clovis moved his family to California from Oklahoma and Arizona in 1942. Before his marriage to Monnie Goodwin he was in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Ardmore. He was working on the airfield driving a truck when a plane crashed on the truck he was driving. When he tried to vacate the plane his head was struck by the propellor of the plane and he was killed instantly.
