Private Bertil Poissot served in Co. G, 26th La. Cavalry. He was on roll as a Prisoner of War at the Battle of Vicksburg and was paroled at Natchitoches, Louisiana at the Red River Landing. In all there were 10 Poissot relatives that served during the Civil War in the Confederacy, one died in battle and that was his cousin Gilma Poissot. Bertil had a full life and many children but suffered with a hereditary disease of Grand Mal seizures or epilepsy.
