L.H. Bacon, Waban Architect, is Dead
Lewis H. Bacon, 84, of 627 Chestnut street, Waban, an architect, died yesterday at a nursing home in Newton after a long illness. He was a former chairman of the Newton board of appeals and a member of the school committee and the board of aldermen. He was also a Mason and a member of the Aleppo temple.

He leaves two sons, Lewis H. Bacon, Jr. of Weymouth [1894-1973], and Robert Bacon of Wellesley; a daughter, Mrs. Allan [Jane Hall] McIntire of Waban [1896-1984], and seven grandchildren. Services will be held Monday afternoon at the Bigelow Chapel, Mt. Auburn cemetery, Cambridge.*

* Although cremation took place at Mount Auburn, the ashes were interred in Newton Cemetery.

Lewis Howard Bacon was the son of James and Electa Sanders Bacon of Wellsboro, PA. He was educated in the high schools of Ravenna, Ohio, where he met his wife, Anne Smith Hall (1859-1924), whom he married 4 Dec. 1882. He studied architecture in the office of Samuel Lane, architect of Cleveland, 1877-80, when he moved to Boston as a draughtsman and supervisor of construction for the firm of Sturgis & Brigham, 1880-1886. For four years he was a member of the firm of Morrison & Bacon, 1888-1892, before embarking on his own practice in an office on Bromfield Street, Boston. [Who's Who in New England]
