Company G, 32nd KY Infantry, Civil War.
The Military used LAY on his marker, but most of his relatives spell the name Leigh.
--by D & L 2006
Son of Instant Ernest Leigh/Lay (1821–?) and Mahala Baugh (1822–?).
He married once, to Georgia Ann Vaught (1851–1887) on 27 Jul 1871 in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
Incorrect mother's maiden name Carter is in the death record of their daughter Lola F. (Leigh/Lay) Hull (1874–1913).
The erroneous mothers name Mahala comes from a record of their son Kendrick Bert Leigh/Lay (1872–1916) but is actually a name used by a sister and the mother of George W. Leigh/Lay (1849–1918).
