Mr. James E. Jackson of White Plains, VA peacefully departed this life on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA.

James is the son of the late Johnnie and Lena Ross Jackson.

His education was obtained through the Warren County Public School System.

At an early age he joined Elams Chapel United Church of Christ and remained faithful until his health began to fail.

In earlier years, he worked as a farmer, and he was formerly employed at the Paper Mill, Roanoke Rapids, NC and Georgia Pacific, Emporia, VA.

On November 24, 1948, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Virginia Owens and God blessed their union with thirteen children of which one, Calvin, preceded him in death.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his wife: Mary Virginia Owens Jackson of the home; fifteen children: Clifton Jackson (Terri) and James Jackson of Philadelphia, PA, Eloise Smith (Lloyd) of Richmond, VA, Clara Jackson and Lowell Jackson of White Plains, VA, Gilbert Jackson (Mary) of Highland Springs, VA, Katie Jackson and Lanzy Jackson of White Plains, VA, Nora Jackson and Rosalind Jackson of Richmond, VA, Reginald Jackson of Fayetteville, PA, Barron Jackson of Philadelphia, PA, Bobby Jackson of Baltimore, MD, JoAnn Brown (John) of Florida and Julius Brown of New Jersey; sixteen grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren; a devoted nephew: Carl Lee Jackson; three devoted family friends: Bertha Barner, Charles Gundy and Elvelon Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at 1:00 pm in the sanctuary of Elams Chapel United Church of Christ, Elams, NC.

Interment will follow in the Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Elams, NC.
