The matriarch of our family, Gurdev Kaur Batth, passed away peacefully at the home of her eldest son on Friday, August 22, 2014, at the age of 87 years. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Nachhattar Singh Batth. Born in Lyallpur, India (Faislabad, Pakistan), on August 7, 1927, to parents Bachhitar Singh Sidhu and Ratan Kaur Sidhu, Gurdev, the second eldest of five children, spent her early adult years in Pakistan and then survived the partition of India and settled in Punjab. Seeking better opportunities for her family, immigrated to California. They settled in Selma, California, where she spent the next three decades supporting her family in their business ventures. The immeasurable impact she had on the lives of her 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren defines the incredible legacy she leaves behind. She enjoyed watching her Indian drama shows, listening to her favorite radio talk shows, and spending time with her countless loved ones. Her life was the epitome of strength and resilience. Our "Bibi Ji", will be forever missed and never forgotten. A Funeral Service will be held at Tinkler Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 475 N. Broadway, Fresno, CA 93701, on Friday August 29, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by religious services at Pacific Coast Khalsa Diwan Society Gurdwara, 2025 W. Clemenceau Avenue, Caruthers, CA 93609, on Friday, August 29, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. .
