Edward R. Bacon, 72, died at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. He was the son of Arthur J. and Bessie (LaPorte) Bacon. He attended school in Braintree, VT and served in the Army during World War II. On Aug. 5, 1948, he married Loretta Sager and they moved to Windsor later that year.

Mr. Bacon was a crane operator at Miller Construction Co. in Windsor for 42 years before retiring in 1990. He was an avid "one Lunger" engine man and enjoyed working on small engines.

He was a member of the Connecticut River Antique Collectors Klub, the Vermont Gas & Steam Engine Association and the Berkshire Gas & Steam Engine Association Inc.
