AN OLD RESIDENT GONE
James Graham, of Madison Township Dies at His Home Yesterday Morning.
James Graham, one of the old residents of Madison Township died at his home near Nairn postoffice yesterday. Mr. Graham was 89 years old and his death was due to complications attendant upon old age. About fifteen years ago he met with a severe accident breaking his hip by falling from a hay loft, and never recovered from this, having been a cripple since. Prior to this time he was in the city frequently and was a familiar figure on our streets. The greater part of Mr. Graham’s life was spent in this county, and on his farm in Madison township. He was a genial, courteous clever gentleman of the old school, whom everybody had a good word for and who was respected by all. He was an old time Jeffersonian Democrat, who voted the ticket regularly in ante-bellum days. In 1853 he was nominated and elected county commissioner by the Democrats, serving one term.
He leaves several sons, one of whom George G Graham lives in this city and another Stephen Graham, lives in Pike County.
