John E. "Kelly" Kielion, 91, of Batavia passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at his residence. John was born in Wheeling, Ohio on February 9, 1915 the son of Peter and Katherine (nee Otesiejska) Kielion. He was united in marriage to Helen Wiesbrook on April 29, 1939 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Batavia.
John had lived in the City of Batavia for all of his adult life. He graduated from the Batavia Public High School where he played football and was active in all sports. He began working for the Challenge Co. during WWII. He then became involved in livestock especially dairy cattle on farms along Kirk Road and Hart Road. Eventually, John became a union carpenter until his retirement at the age of 65. John was always involved and active in the City of Batavia; he served as an alderman for the City of Batavia and was a proponent with the Batavia Little League Baseball Program. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, and the Batavia Moose Lodge #682; where he bowled for over 50 years. John loved the outdoors especially fishing and hunting, and all kinds of sports.
He is survived by his one daughter, Dianne (John) Scott of Montgomery, IL; three sons, Raymond (Janice) Kielion, Robert (Debbie) Kielion, Rodney (Mar) Kielion all of Batavia; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Jack Killian; a special niece and nephew, Jim and Sue Killian along with many other nieces and nephews; and his devoted caretakers, Angelina Pethova and Kay Zanol.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen; and his sister, Jenie Killian.
Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at Moss Family Funeral home, 209 South Batavia Ave, Batavia, IL. A Liturgical wake service will be held at 8:00 P.M.
Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, March 2, 2006 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 West Main Street, Batavia, where he will lie in state from 9:30 P.M. until the mass time. Interment will be in East Batavia Cemetery following the funeral Mass.
