FOUND DEAD IN BED
Mrs. M. A. Bingay, venerable mother of B. J. Bingay, a well-known citizen and business man of the sixth ward of this parish, died at the residence of her son at Crevasse Settlement last Tuesday at the advanced age of 97 years. Deceased was active in both body and mind for a person of her age, and was apparently in good health when she retired Monday night. Tuesday morning she was found dead in her bed. Funeral services were held at St. Anthony's chapel, at Darrow, Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock, after which the remains were taken to St. James parish and laid to rest in the family tomb in the Catholic cemetery. Mrs. Bingay was born on the Landry plantation in the sixth ward of this parish and was a daughter of Simon Landry, a lieutenant in the battle of New Orleans. The Landry Plantation was a part grant from the Spanish government in the 18th century. She took a lively interest in the present war as well as in all current happenings.
She is survived by her son, B. J. Bingay; three daughters, Mrs. Jas. D. Daniels and Mrs. Alfred Plaisance, of New Orleans, and Mrs. John Gravois, of Hohen Solms. To them the Chief tenders its sympathy in their great sorrow.
