Billy D. Lyons, affectionately known to all as “Pappy”, of Varnville, entered into eternal rest August 27, 2014.

Mr. Lyons was born January 30, 1942 in Bamberg County and was a son of the late George Dewey Lyons and Martha Linder Lyons.

He was a retired logger, who never met a stranger and loved fishing.

Surviving are: his wife, Kathryn P. Jarrell Lyons of Varnville; daughter, Jodie Riley of Ruffin; a step-son he raised as his own, Mike Norris of Bamberg; step-children, Steve Jarrell and wife Kathy of Hampton, Robert Jarrell of Hampton, Richard Jarrell and wife Sandra of Smoaks, and Dianne Saimes of Walterboro; brothers, Reverend James E. Lyons of Branchville, Steve Lyons of Branchville, and Buddy Lyons of Smoaks; sister, Elizabeth Bunton of Columbia; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great grandsons.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Lyons; and a sister, Myrtle Lyons.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 12 noon, August 30, 3014 at Hagan Cemetery, Smoaks.
