Dead Since Yesterday
There was no chair at Mr. Platter's place at the table but his plate had been used. Officers supposed he had moved his chair from its place to be nearer Mrs. Platter when she became ill.
The condition of the bodies indicated the deaths had occurred about yesterday noon. Investigators said fumes from a gas blaze will cause a victim to become very faint before he realized anything is wrong. This especially is true in a tightly closed room with an open flame and no fume outlet. Exhaustion of oxygen in the room brings on the fatal results.
Mr. Platter was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., 1854, and had lived in Pittsburg for 30 years. For twenty years, he was engaged in the meat and grocery business and for the last ten years, had dealt in kraut and kraut by-products exclusively. Coming to this district 45 years ago, he formerly lived in western Kansas.

Survivors include three sons, Fred Platter of Kansas City, Frank Platter of Parsons and Ralph Platter of Webb City; a daughter, Miss Clara Platter of Peoria, Mo., and five grandchildren.
Mrs. Alice Platter, formerly Mrs. Pierson, was 78 years old. Her former husband was Dan Pierson, who operated a lunch counter for many years here. He died nearly twenty years ago. No surviving relatives were reported today.

Double funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the E. K. Smith chapel for Mr. and Mrs. Frank K. Patter who were asphyxiated Sunday in their home at 113 1/2 East Third.
Rev. Dyre Campbell will conduct the last rites and interment will be in Mt. Olive cemetery. The bodies are at the chapel. There will be no inquest as Coroner C. B. Newman pronounced the deaths accidents. The bodies were found yesterday morning.
