Ole J. Stone was born in Sogndal, Norway on November 13, 1869 and died at Paullina, Monday February 19, 1951.

In 1893 he came to the United States, settling in Nebraska, where he had relatives. later he moved to Adams, Minnesota and Austin, Minnesota where he spent the next few years. During this time he changed his name legally to Stone to avoid confusion as there were other Stonhjens. He also lived several years at Draer, Iowa before coming to Paullina in 1907 or 1908.

On September 16, 1919 he was married to Mrs. Minnie Gillespie of Sheldon.

Since that time, they have resided in Paullina except for one year on a farm and four months spent in Oregon and California.

He was employed for several years on the city Street Department and as a Marshall.

At the time of his death he was past 81 years of age.

He is survived by his wife, three half-brothers, and three half-sisters, a step-son, Ralph Gillespie of Inglewood, California, step-daughter, Mrs. Albert Bunkers of Corvallis, Oregon; four grandchildren, M. Sgt. Keith Farnsworth of Lenz, Austria, Mrs. Barbara Roth of Sioux City, Mrs. Joan Hoover of Boulder City, Nevada, and 2nd Lt. Dale Farnsworth of Sacramento, California, and eight great grandchildren, and several cousins and nieces and nephews in Minnesota Iowa and Oregon.

Funeral services were held in Siloam Lutheran Church, Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. The Rev. H. G. Hatlin officiated. Interment was in Prairie View Cemetery.

Those attending from out of town were Mrs. A. B. Bunkers of Corvalis, Oregon, Mrs. Forest Hoover of Boulder City, Nevada, and Mr. and Mrs. Dayle Roth and children of Sioux City.

From the Paullina Newspaper of February 22, 1951:
Ole Stone, 81, took his own life by hanging here sometime Monday night, according to Coroner J. A. Wagner. Mr. Stone had been in ill health for several years, but had been downtown visiting with friends during the previous afternoon.

Mrs. Stone became concerned late in the evening, when her husband did not return from town. Word was sent to night Marshall Hopkins, who later aided by Harry Inwiehe, discovered the body hanging in the garage behind the Hugh Bobzein house where the Stones lived. Coroner Wagner was called immediately. Early in the evening Mrs. Stone had gone to visit friends. Mr. Stone had remarked that he was going to town to watch bowling and added that she shouldn't worry if he was late, that everything would be all right. The time of the funeral has been tentatively set for Thursday at 2 in the Siloam Lutheran Church.
