Adele Kenyon Boocock was the daughter of George Waterman Kenyon of Brooklyn prominent members of New York/Brooklyn society. Her engagement to Howard Boocock, a Yale graduate, was announced in October 1900 and they wed on April 16 1901.

Adele was shot by her husband in the music room of their home; 36 East Seventy Fourth Street, she was at the piano. Mr. Boocock , treasurer of the Astor Trust Company of New York then retired to the dining room were he shot himself.
