Rev. Dearing Estes Jones, 83, of Conroe, passed away quietly on August 28, 2014. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, September 1, 2014, at Thornton Cemetery in Thornton, Texas with the Reverend John Davidhizar officiating. Following the graveside service the family will have a time for fellowship at the Central Baptist Church in Thornton.

Dearing was born in Houston, Texas, to the late Alston Miller Jones and Josephine Mcinnis Jones. He was raised in Huntsville, Texas, where he was an avid athlete in high school football and track. He went on to play football for Sam Houston where he met Zela Dell Aman of Thornton, Texas. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, MATS Atlantic: Iceland during the Korean War, Dearing earned his B.S., Master in Education (Sam Houston) and Master in Biblical Studies (Dallas Theological Seminary). Dearing served as an educator and pastor for many years. His last ministry consisted of a stretch of over 30 years at Thee Evergreen Church in San Jacinto County.

Survivors include his wife, Zela; sons: James Dearing, Dr. John and Jenny Jones, David and Tami Jones; daughter, Robin and Kenneth Truelove; grandchildren: Julie, Amy, John, Lauren, Jacob, Bethany, Patrick, Courtney, Kelsey; great-grandchildren: Lara, Louisa, Caroline and Kynslie; brothers, Alston, and John Jones and wife, Barbara; sister, Josie; nieces: Sherri, Tamara, Rocky; nephew, Steve; and sister-in-law, Geraldine Aman Ariano, of Thornton, TX.
