OBITUARY:

Wilfred "Wilf" Louis CODY
December 5, 1931 ~ November 20, 2012 (age 80)

Predeceased by: His parents John and Hilda Cody, sister Florence Abel, and brother Raymond Cody; Brothers-in-law, Joseph Abel, Anton Ronellenfitsch, Archie Reynaud, Samuel Zenuk, Bernard Malhomme; nephew: Clarence Gabriel

Survived by: Cecilia Cody, wife of almost 49 years, daughter Katherine "Kathy", son Shaun (Caroline), son Michael, daughter Allyson (Chad). Beloved grandchildren: Matthew, Rhiannon, Lauren, Avery, Ronan, Annelies, Rachael and Olivia. Siblings: Archie Cody (Margaret), Rosemary Reynaud. Numerous cousins and nieces and nephews. Lifelong friend: Roger Laurin.

Wilf was born in Pilger Saskatchewan second youngest of five in a farming family. Throughout his life Wilf shared stories of his childhood and antics on the farm alongside his siblings and cousins. He proudly reminded us (his children) that he won Prairie Farm Boy of the Year in his teens. Wilf attended high school at St. Peter's College in Muenster, Saskatchewan and graduated from the University of Saskatechwan in 1954 with a degree in Agriculture. Wilf worked as an Agrologist both in Canada and internationally. Wilf and Cecilia brought their young family overseas for two years to Bali, Indonesia and one year in Ghana, West Africa. Wilf dedicated his career to helping farmers both locally and in developing countries.

Wilf had a lifelong passion for flying which he shared with his son Michael. He was an avid outdoorsman, woodworker and gardener and, much to the chagrin of his family, didn't let a bad back slow him down. Wilf was not a man of many words but when he got started he had an amazing memory for detail, was a wonderful story teller and always had a captive audience.

Dad taught us all a deep sense of purpose for the environment and humanity. Family was everything to Dad. His wife, his children and most of all his grandchildren were his greatest joy.
