Before that, Mrs. Held, who got an Ohio real estate license in 1980, was a real estate agent at Dick Miller Realty World, Fremont.
She and her husband of 58 years, Thomas, also owned and operated the Vickery Market in Vickery from 1962, when they bought it, until 1969, when they sold it. They also owned and operated Village Tavern, also in Vickery, from about 1968, when they bought it, until 1984, when they sold it.
Before that, Mrs. Held was the assistant postmaster in Vickery for about five years in the early 1960s, when she also was active locally in John F. Kennedy s presidential campaign.
Over the years, Mrs. Held also helped establish the Townsend Township Volunteer Fire Department and Auxiliary, Vickery Rodeos, and the 4-H horse club, all in Vickery.
She was very driven, very success-oriented, coming from a line of women who were likewise hard-working, her daughter, Tomi Johnson, said.
A native of Vickery, Mrs. Held, whose maiden name was Andrassy, grew up during the Depression, helping out on the family farm. She graduated in 1947 as the salutatorian of her Townsend High School class.
In retirement, Mrs. Held lived in Hernando, Fla., where she enjoyed the company of her husband and bird watching.
Mrs. Held was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Clyde. Her other memberships included the National Honor Society and local, state, and national Realtor associations.
