She was a life member of the Karthaus Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and was a member of the Senior Citizens over 60 club in Karthaus. She was also president of the Women's Deanery of the Buffalo diocese.
Mrs. Nashwinter was preceded in death by a son, James Nashwinter, and a brother, Robert W. Valimont (d 1990).
Survivors include her husband, Harold L. Nashwinter; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Donna) Kellick of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Chester (Janice) Engle of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and Mrs. Michael (Mary Kay) Reilly of Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters, Sr. Anastasia Valimont, SSJ., and Mrs. William (Justina) Lidgett of Niagara Falls; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in Frenchville.
