Funeral services for Edward N. Winfrey, who died Saturday, Nov. 18, were Tuesday, Nov. 21, at the First Baptist Church of Burlington, the Rev. Aaron Nutter Officiating.
Music selections - "Precious Memories" and "Amazing Grace" - were provided by Mr. and Mrs. Milton Sharp and casket bearers included Arthur Schmidt, Ben Rainbolt, Paul Rhoades, Tom McCauley, Doyle Lambert and Ray Rhoades.

Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.

Edward Newton Winfrey, the son of John R. and Ann Nettie, was born March 4, 1893, in Carroll County, Mo. He was 85 years, 8 months and 14 days at the time of his death.
In 1970, when he was 14 years of age, he came with his parents, three brothers and three sisters to Colorado, later homesteading in Yuma County near what is now Bonny Dam.
Mr. Winfrey served with the armed forces during World War I.

He was married to Esther Elizabeth Sanders in Nebraska on June 21, 1921, and the couple became the parents of three children.

In 1932 the family moved to Nebraska, where they lived for 10 years, returning to Burlington in 1942.

Mr. Winfrey accepted Christ at an early age and was a charter member of the First Baptist Church in Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1968, his parents, two brothers and one sister, and is survived by his three children, Vada of Merced, Calif., Phyllis of El Monte, Calif., and Noel of Burlington; sisters Nora Crews of Wray and Mildred Smith of Lakewood; and a host of nieces and nephews.
