Ed Greene, 78, of 1313 Vernal Pike, died early this morning at Bloomington Hospital.
A native of Monroe County, he was born Nov. 8 [sic], 1894, the son of John and Martha (Brigton) Greene. He was retired from Ed Greene & Sons Auto Parts and was a member of the Christian faith and Fraternal Order of Police, and a 50-year member of the IOOF.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Branum of Bloomington, and Ruth Greene, at home; three sons, John of Monticello, Joe of Spencer, and Richard of Bloomington; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother, Lee, of Hoopston, Ill. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma, in 1967; by a daughter, Mrs. Helen Wampler, in 1958, and by a son, Thomas, in 1929.
Services will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Greene & Harrell Chapel, with burial in Clear Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. today and from 2-9 p.m. Friday.

Friends may call until 9 p.m. today. There will be an Odd Fellows memorial service held this evening at 7:30 p.m.
