Betty J. Turzinski (nee Kawleski), 74, formerly of Marshfield, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.

Betty was born Jun 13, 1936, in Stevens Point, the youngest of 10 children. After her marriage to Lawrence "Larry" in September 1954, they made their home in Franklin Park, Ill., where they raised six children. In 1977, Betty and Larry moved to St. Charles, and another move to Cortland followed in 1989. After Larry retired, they moved to Adams, Wis. After Larry passed away, Betty moved to Marshfield, where she enjoyed gardening, cooking, visiting with family and friends, and polka dancing. in July 2010, Betty moved to Bolingbrook, Ill., and was moved into Manor Care in Naperville, Ill., in December 2010.

Betty is survived by her children, Mark (Sandra) Turzinski of Wisconsin Dells, Sandra (Michael Sr.) Boyd of Greer, S.C., Shelley Rosas of Bartlett, Ill., Randall (Toula) Turzinski of Winfield, Ill., SUe (Michael) Richards of Elgin, Ill., and Gary Turzinski of Bolingbrook; her grandchildren, Michael Jr. and Rachel Boyd, Dan and Jason Rosas, Katrina, Stefanie and Alex Turzinski, and Jonathan and Kalena Richards; stepgrandchildren, Mike Robinson and Crystal (Ian) Dvorak; step great-grandchildren, Alexis, Briar and Jesse; sisters, Clara Molski, Cecilia Pionek and Mona Kizewski; in-laws, Stanley Turzinski, Bernice Kawleski and Theresa Helbach; and her good friend and companion, Russell Bruhn.

She was preceded in death by Lawrence, her husband of 44 years; her son-in-law, Frank Rosas; her parents, Peter and Julia; her sisters, Theresa Kieliszewski, Tillie Willing and Lucille Grezenski; and her brothers, Raymond, Louis and Edmund.

Betty was diagnosed with lung cancer in July 2007. She will be remembered for her strong will and many lessons passed on to her children and grandchildren. Even when battling cancer, she fought and gave it everything she had. Betty's family is very grateful for the support received from friends and family, including all the posts to her Caring Bridge website.

A memorial celebration of her life will be at 11:30a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 408 Cedar St., St. Charles, Ill.
