Note: her death certificate lists her date of birth as 30 Jun 1874, but her birth year was more likely 1878, based on her listed age of "1" in the 1880 Scott Co, TN census (enumerated 21 Jun 1880), where her younger brother Columbus was also listed as being 6 months old, placing his birth as ca. Nov-Dec 1879. Also, she was more likely born in Scott Co, TN even though her death certificate lists her birth as being in Elk Valley, Campbell Co, TN.

MRS. JANE LEWALLEN, LONG ILL, DIES AT 74

Madison (WV), April 8 --

Mrs. Jane Lewallen, 74, died Monday night in the home of a son, Lewis Lewallen of Uneeda, after a long illness.

She was a native of Elk Valley, Tenn., and a member of United Brethern Baptist Church there.

Also surviving* are two daughters, Mrs. Mont Harris of Barrett and Mrs. Tom Brown of Keith, Ky.; four brothers, Batey Blankenship of Elk Valley, Tenn., Lewis of Woodbine, Ky., and Ledford and Ledlow, address unknown; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The body is at the home of her son. Hunter and Hunter mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bigson Baptist Church near Van. Rev. Ray Crum and Rev. B. B. Lay will officiate. Additional service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Elk Valley, Tenn. Burial will be in a cemetery there.
